Uzbekistan, Tajikistan leaders consider the implementation of the agreements reached

    On May 5, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

    The Leader of Tajikistan warmly congratulated the President of Uzbekistan on the successful holding of a nationwide referendum on introducing amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    During the conversation, special attention was paid to the practical implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level.

    The progressive strengthening of strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and the growing dynamics of trade and economic cooperation was noted with particular satisfaction.

    The trade turnover and the number of joint projects and enterprises are increasing. The construction of a border trade and logistics zone is underway. Active cultural and humanitarian exchanges continue – in March, the first Forum of Rectors of the leading universities of the two countries was fruitfully held in Dushanbe.

    The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan noted the importance of carefully preparing the agenda for the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Second Forum of Regions to accelerate ongoing cooperation projects and develop new areas of practical interaction.

    Views were exchanged on issues of regional cooperation, including in the context of preparations for the upcoming Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.
