On August 29, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Center of Islamic Civilization and reviewed the progress of the final finishing and installation works.
The majestic complex is being built in the style of ancient architectural monuments. National domes and portals, along with the exquisite combination of traditional ornaments, give the structure a distinctive appearance. Portals 34 meters high have been erected on four sides of the complex, and in the center, a dome 65 meters high rises.
The central place in the center is occupied by the Hall of the Quran, where the spiritual relic of the Muslim world – the ancient Uthman Mushaf – will be kept. Also on display will be handwritten copies of the Quran created during the eras of the Samanids, Karakhanids, Khwarezmshahs, Uzbek Khan, the Timurids, and other dynasties, their translations into Old Uzbek, as well as unique manuscripts from world collections. The President reviewed the design of the hall and gave appropriate recommendations.
The center features a conference hall with 460 seats, equipped with state-of-the-art technology for hosting international meetings and forums.
“Uzbekistan has a great history. The scientific and cultural heritage of our ancestors has left an indelible mark on human history. I am confident that this center will play a huge role in conveying this heritage to the world community”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.
The complex will feature exhibitions titled “Civilizations Before Islam”, “The Era of the First Renaissance”, “The Era of the Second Renaissance”, “Uzbekistan in the 20th Century”, and “New Uzbekistan – New Renaissance”. The history of these periods is presented through artifacts, manuscripts, images, and multimedia materials. The multifaceted work of such great thinkers as Khwarizmi, Fergani, Farabi, Beruni, Ibn Sina, Burhaniddin Margilani, Mahmud Zamakhshari, Mirzo Ulugbek, Alisher Navoi, Zahiriddin Babur, Ali Qushchi, and others is revealed in detail. Special attention is given to the contribution of Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, Hakim Termizi, Abu Mansur Maturidi, Abu Muin Nasafi, Kaffol Shashi, Abdulkhaliq Ghijduvani, Najmiddin Kubro, Bahauddin Naqshband, and Khoja Ahror Vali to the development of Islamic enlightenment.
The activities of women who left a deep mark on history are also highlighted – Bibikhanum, Khonzodabegim, Gavharshodbegim, Gulbadanbegim, Nodirabegim, Uvaysi, Anbar Otin, and others, who were patrons of science and enlightenment.
It was noted that the center is intended to become a place for the deep study of the heritage of the ancestors and its transformation into a living force capable of responding to the challenges of modernity. For this purpose, cooperation will be established with the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, as well as with international scientific and educational centers named after Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, and Imam Maturidi, and other organizations, which will enable the provision of worthy scientific responses to contemporary challenges.
The President highly appreciated the progress of the construction, emphasizing the need to properly organize the center’s work and continually enrich its content.
“For eight years, tremendous work has been carried out here. We have built a majestic center, the depth and significance of which cannot be overestimated. Every guest who visits it will be imbued with respect for the rich history of our people, for the knowledge and thinking of our ancestors, and will receive powerful spiritual inspiration here”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
