Consistent measures are being implemented in the country to strengthen energy security, ensure the stable supply of energy resources to the domestic market, including natural gas, and provide uninterrupted energy to sectors of the economy. At the same time, the growing demand of the economy and the population for natural gas requires the identification of new reserves, increased efficiency of existing fields, and the commissioning of new ones.
In this regard, Uzbekneftegaz Joint-Stock Company has been tasked with fundamentally increasing performance in the sector and introducing modern approaches.
It was noted that in 2025 the company’s enterprises produced 25.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, drilled 56 new wells, and carried out major overhauls on 29 wells.
For 2026-2027, plans include maintaining stable natural gas production volumes and implementing more than 300 geological and technical measures.
Information was provided on the priority tasks that need to be addressed to achieve these targets.
In particular, special attention will be given to improving the efficiency of geological exploration and geological and technical operations, increasing reserves and ensuring stable production volumes, and refining procurement procedures.
In addition, measures are envisaged to create a value chain through the deep processing of gas, the production of import-substituting and export-oriented goods, and the financial recovery of the company and its enterprises.
It was noted that priority attention in the company’s operations will be given to improving operational efficiency, including ensuring financial sustainability through divestment of non-core assets, termination of sponsorship payments, and optimization of expenses.
Priority areas of the company’s activities also include the digitalization of production processes and the broader adoption of artificial intelligence technologies, strengthening the internal control and compliance system, oversight of financial asset movements, and preventing corruption and conflicts of interest.
The Head of State instructed that the assigned tasks and all planned measures be implemented through precise planning, strict discipline, and personal responsibility.
During the presentation, man-made incidents that occurred during geological exploration, including in Surkhandarya region, were also discussed. It was emphasized that such cases are a natural part of the complex processes involved in the search for promising new deposits and occur globally. It was noted that the necessary measures are being taken in the country in response to such situations.
The President instructed the responsible officials to pay special attention to strengthening continuous monitoring in areas where geological research is conducted, introducing modern control technologies, and ensuring public safety.
