U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick handed over 225 FLIR infrared monoculars to the Border Troops of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Border troops. The equipment is being transferred within the framework of the Nonproliferation and Disarmament Fund, funded by the State Department.

The transferred equipment is estimated at 600 thousand US dollars and is part of the assistance provided by the United States to Uzbekistan in the field of security.

Since 2001, when the United States and Uzbekistan first signed an Agreement in the field of defense and prevention of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, our two countries have been acting as full partners, countering the proliferation of dangerous nuclear, biological, chemical and radiological materials, as well as strengthening border security. Today, the United States is pleased to celebrate the next stage of cooperation, and hopes that the transferred surveillance equipment will improve the capabilities of the Border Troops to protect the state border of Uzbekistan, patrol the "green border" and allow them to respond promptly to border incidents.

The Nonproliferation and Disarmament Fund (FNR), established in 1994, allows the US Government to respond promptly to unforeseen or complex situations in the field of nonproliferation and disarmament that require urgent solutions. FNR has experience in strategy development, negotiation, program management, financial transactions and contract execution, which ensures that the work is done in the most reliable, safe and cost-effective way.
