Among them,
14 people are war invalids, and another 14 are direct participants in the
fighting. In addition, 13 people belong to the category of survivors of the
siege of Leningrad, and 19 are former prisoners of Nazi concentration camps.
The largest
number of veterans lives in the city of Tashkent - 28 people. There are 11
veterans registered in the Tashkent region, and 5 in the Ferghana region. In
other regions of the country, their number is significantly lower.
The
Ministry of Defense also recalled the scale of Uzbekistan's participation in
the Second World War. According to archival data, 1 million 951 thousand people
were mobilized to the front, out of a total population of about 6.5 million
people in the republic. According to official statistics, 538,000 Uzbeks who
went to the front died.
It is noted
that the state continues measures of social support for veterans. In
particular, a one-time payment of 30 million soums is provided for each
participant and a disabled person.
