The Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis in New York held talks with the President of the Swiss Confederation

    As previously reported, the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva is in New York to participate in the 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

    During the visit, Tanzila Narbayeva held a meeting with the President of the Swiss Confederation Viola Amerd.

    Issues of consistent expansion of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Switzerland were discussed, including the development of political dialogue, the implementation of joint projects in trade, economic, investment and technological spheres.

    Currently, 19 joint projects are being implemented with Switzerland in such areas as the automotive industry, textile production, pharmaceuticals, food industry, animal husbandry, and infrastructure development. During the meeting, it was noted that both states have great potential and ample opportunities to increase this indicator several times.

    Taking into account the importance of inter-parliamentary ties in relations, the prospects for cooperation in this direction were also considered. In particular, the sides exchanged views on the intensification of relations at the level of relevant committees, the creation of friendship groups in the parliaments of the two countries.

    Practical proposals for the development of cooperation in a number of areas were also put forward during the meeting. In particular, the importance of developing cooperation in the field of gender equality and sharing experience in this area was noted.

    The parties also focused on the issues of expanding financial and technical cooperation in the implementation of socially significant programs related to improving the situation in the Aral Sea region.
