From December 1, new rules for entry into Russia for foreigners will be introduced

    Starting from December 1, 2024, an experiment on the submission of biometric data for foreign citizens and stateless persons when entering and leaving the country will start in Russia.

    According to the press service of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation, the experiment is aimed at creating a digital profile of a foreign citizen.

    The main stages of the experiment

    The first stage will begin on December 1, 2024 and will last until June 30, 2026 at Moscow airports (Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Jukovsky), as well as at the Mashtakovo automobile cargo and passenger checkpoint (Orenburg Region).

    At this stage, when crossing the border of the Russian Federation (entry/exit), foreigners (including citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan) will submit biometric data - a photographic image of a face and fingerprints.

    In the second stage, from June 30, 2025 to June 30, 2026, the experiment will expand and cover all checkpoints across the Russian state border.

    At this stage, a foreign citizen planning to enter the Russian Federation in a manner that does not require a visa (including citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan) during the experiment period, before such entry, perform the following actions:

    · undergoes the registration procedure in the unified identification and authentication system using the mobile application of the unified portal;

    · They provide their photos in real time to the mobile application of the single portal and post their biometric personal data in a single biometric system;

    · no later than 72 hours before the planned entry into the Russian Federation, or no later than 4 hours (if there is a need for emergency treatment, death of a relative), provides an electronic statement of the purpose of entry into the territory of the Russian Federation.

    This experiment will affect foreign citizens and stateless persons entering and leaving the Russian Federation, with the exception of:

    · citizens of the Republic of Belarus;

    · heads and employees of diplomatic missions, members of their families;

    · officials of international organizations and their families;

    · persons holding diplomatic or official passports;

    · children under 6 years old.
