The President noted with concern that since 1854, the water level of Lake Issyk-Kul has decreased by nearly 14 meters, and the number of rivers flowing into it has dropped more than threefold.
“In the 1950s and 1960s, approximately 100-110 rivers flowed into the lake; today, that number is only 30-35. If this trend continues, the region will face serious ecological and socio-economic consequences”.
According to him, the government is taking necessary measures by implementing projects to increase water inflow, including the construction of new canals and hydraulic structures.
