The school was built in 1974, renovated in 2009. The educational buildings, dormitories and canteen have the necessary conditions. 259 blind children study here.
The school has scientific and music clubs. Many students have achieved international success in art and sports. Last year, 9 out of 19 graduates of the boarding school entered universities.
The Head of the state talked with students and teachers. They shared their memories of how Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the institution in 2003 when he was the Hokim of Samarkand region, expressed gratitude to the state for the conditions at school and benefits for admission to universities.
“Our goal is to exalt human values. I am here to ask about your wishes and concerns. We intend to create conditions for you to get a good education, a decent job, your place in society”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Teachers noted the lack of new textbooks, especially books on foreign languages, as well as computer keyboards with Braille. There are few psychologists competent to work with children with disabilities.
The President stressed that taking into account all the problems, opportunities for blind people will be expanded.
“We will make a decision according to which the training of professions will be carried out primarily at school. Each university, each organization will have separate quotas for the blind. The most difficult thing in this matter is preschool education. Therefore, it is necessary to build a kindergarten at every boarding school”, the Head of the state said.
Responsible persons were instructed to develop a draft of the relevant document.
