Shavkat Mirziyoyev: The signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations fully meets the fundamental interests of the two fraternal peoples

    At the Palace of the Nation in Dushanbe, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, held a meeting in a contracted format.

    Particular attention was paid to deepening political dialogue, increasing trade and economic cooperation, enhancing interregional contacts, and cultural and humanitarian exchange.

    The two countries’ leaders confirmed their mutual desire to continue constructive cooperation within regional structures and on international platforms to unite efforts to promote interests and ensure sustainable development in Central Asia.

    It was emphasized that the signing of the historic Treaty on Allied Relations symbolizes the transition to a qualitatively new stage in relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

    In this regard, it was noted that realizing the potential of allied relations requires increasing the effectiveness of contacts at all levels.

    It should be noted that in recent years, trade turnover has increased 40 times, and the number of joint ventures has increased 15 times.

    The governments have been tasked with bringing trade turnover to $2 billion, including by expanding the range of mutual supplies and speedily launching cross-border trade zones.

    On the eve of the visit, a business forum was successfully held, resulting in the formation of a solid portfolio of new cooperation projects and trade contracts.

    Among them are mutually beneficial projects in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, energy, mining, agricultural, textile, and pharmaceutical industries.

    The parties also outlined specific plans for implementing cooperation projects. The potential of the joint Investment Company will be used for these purposes.

    The importance of intensifying cultural and humanitarian exchanges was noted. Regular film screenings, concerts, performances, exhibitions, and youth forums were emphasized. The need to enhance interaction in education and develop accessible tourism programs was noted.

    The Leader of Uzbekistan invited President Emomali Rahmon to visit Uzbekistan at a time convenient for him.
