The second round table of the Uzbekistan Country Platform, with the support of the European Union, brought together more than 80 representatives of the government and international organizations to discuss Uzbekistan's reform program and coordinate support activities.

The participants discussed further cooperation within the framework of 13 sectoral working groups supporting the priorities of the Uzbekistan 2030 strategy, such as agriculture, energy security, green growth, the rule of law and others.

Under the leadership of the Agency for Strategic Reforms under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan, with the secretariat support of the European Union, the Country Platform aims to promote effective coordination. In his opening remarks, Mr. Bahodir Rakhmatov, Director of the Agency for Strategic Reforms, noted that: "Constructive cooperation between development partners and the Government ensures the achievement of the priority reform goals identified by the President of Uzbekistan aimed at creating a more prosperous and sustainable future for all.

The Agency for Strategic Reforms plays a key role in coordinating the interaction of ministries and departments with development partners, ensuring the successful implementation of the roadmap approved by Presidential Decree No.PP-109, as well as improving efficiency and accountability in public administration."

During the round table, participants discussed the importance of coordinated efforts to support the government's goals, such as Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) by 2026.

Having assumed the functions of secretariat support from the World Bank in May this year, the European Union will provide assistance to the Country Platform until the end of 2025. The Ambassador of the European Union to Uzbekistan, Ms. Charlotte Adrian, noted: "It is a great honor for the EU to co-chair the Country Platform and promote it as a forum for open dialogue, cooperation and interaction between Uzbekistan and development partners. Our common goal is to support Uzbekistan on the path of reform. The country platform is an opportunity to join forces and effectively move together towards prosperity and sustainable development, leaving no one behind."

At the end of the meeting, the Government and development partners agreed to submit work plans to the Secretariat to ensure regular exchange of support and information in order to advance reforms in the interests of the people of Uzbekistan in a timely manner.
