This was stated in a report by the German insurance company Munich Re.

In the previous year, this figure stood at 368 billion dollars. Thus, damages caused by fires, floods, hurricanes, and other natural disasters decreased by nearly 40 percent in 2025.

In 2025, insured losses from natural disasters amounted to approximately 108 billion dollars. This is 26.5 percent less than the amount of damage recorded at the end of 2024.

Munich Re attributes the global decrease in natural disaster damages to the fact that, for the first time in 10 years, hurricanes did not significantly impact the US coast. Previously, these events traditionally led to serious destruction in densely populated areas of the country and, consequently, large financial losses, reported by report.az.
