This tournament has opened an entirely new chapter in the history of Uzbek chess, proving once again that representatives of our country are conquering the world stage. Nodirbek Abdusattorov, who collected 9 points in the "Masters" group, became the winner of the tournament and entered history as the first Uzbek chess player to win the championship in the history of this prestigious competition.
At the same time, another talented representative, Javokhir Sindarov, finished the competition undefeated with 8.5 points and took a proud second place. Host grandmaster Jorden van Foreest rounded out the top three.
These results have significantly boosted our chess players' positions in the world rankings. In particular, Nodirbek Abdusattorov increased his rating by 19.5 points and joined the top five chess players in the world with 2770 points. Javokhir Sindarov gained an additional 19.4 points and rose to 11th place in the world rankings with a 2745 rating.
Our chess players, who achieved this historic victory, will return to our country on February 3 at 04:10 AM Tashkent time on flight HY-274 from Istanbul to Tashkent. This success is a giant step toward strengthening the hegemony of the Uzbek chess school in the world.
