Trump criticized Zelensky for refusing to recognize Crimea as Russian

Vladimir Zelensky's statement on his refusal to recognize Crimea as part of Russia harms peace talks, US President Donald Trump believes.

According to the American leader, Zelensky "boasts" that Ukraine will not recognize the Russian jurisdiction of Crimea and this position of Kiev "is very harmful to peace negotiations."

Trump noted on social media that Crimea was lost many years ago and this is not a matter of discussion.

The US president stressed that the situation in Ukraine is deplorable and the head of the Kiev regime must make peace in order not to lose the whole country in a few years.

At the same time, Trump considers a peace deal to be close to being concluded.

The media wrote that because of Zelensky's statement about Crimea, the head of the US State Department, Marco Rubio, did not go to London to meet with the foreign ministers of Ukraine and European countries. Instead of this meeting, another one took place - a lower rank.

According to press reports, the Trump administration has issued an ultimatum to Kiev and insists on adopting its own peace plan, which implies the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions and the de facto recognition of Crimea as Russian. rg.ru.
