Uzbekistan and Spain signed a memorandum of cooperation on the implementation of joint projects in the water sector

    Within the framework of the World Bank project "Water Resources Management in the Fergana Valley. Phase-2" with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, a visit of the delegation of our country to Spain was organized to study water management legislation, water resources management, organizational, institutional, legal structures, the mechanism of financial and economic support of the irrigation system.

    During the visit of the delegation, a meeting of the delegation members with the Spanish promotion and consulting company "GEDEPSA S.A." was organized at the Embassy. This company was founded in 1982 in Madrid and has representative offices in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia and Uzbekistan. Representative office of "GEDEPSA S.A." in Uzbekistan, "AYECO" company implements projects with the involvement of large companies, educational and scientific institutions in Spain, carrying out their activities in the water-ecological, industrial, agricultural and educational spheres.

    During the meeting, the Spanish side acquainted the Uzbek delegation with a presentation on water resources management in Spain and a project in the field of water management to be implemented in Uzbekistan jointly with leading Spanish companies such as AZUD and Inima, the Dune news agency reports.

    Following the meeting, Director of the Center for the Implementation of Foreign Investment Projects in the Water Sector under the Ministry of Water Resources of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Kamalov and President of GEDEPSA S.A. Alejandro Pastrana Molero signed a memorandum of cooperation.

    According to the document, the parties will cooperate in developing joint investment projects aimed at creating efficient water supply systems, improving the efficiency of consumption and use of water resources, introducing innovative technologies for the use of alternative energy resources in the field of water management, as well as attracting financial resources from Spanish public and private funds for their implementation.
