During the talks, Minister K. Sharipov spoke in detail about the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Italy in the field of higher education and science in recent years. In particular, the activities of branches of Italian universities in Uzbekistan, the results of the Uzbekistan-Italy educational forum held in 2024-2025, as well as a round table with the participation of university rectors from both countries were discussed.
The Minister also informed about the ongoing competition for joint research and innovation projects, designed for 2025-2027, and stressed the need to further expand university partnerships, including in the areas of doctoral studies, academic exchange, as well as in the framework of European educational programs such as Erasmus+, Horizon Europe and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions.
For his part, Rector Valerio De Cesaris noted the active cooperation of the University for Foreigners of Perugia with the Uzbek State University of World Languages and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
Following the talks, the parties agreed to expand cooperation in such areas as teaching the Italian language and culture, academic exchange, teacher training, implementation of projects within the framework of EU programs, creation of joint educational programs, provision of grants for students, as well as the development of cultural exchange.
