Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will send 600 million cubic meters of water to Kazakhstan to overcome irrigation shortages in the south of the country. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev.

According to him, the current irrigation water situation in southern Kazakhstan requires immediate intervention. The previously reached agreements between the states will ensure the necessary amount of water for agricultural needs, reports 24.kg.

Kanat Bozumbayev added that all necessary negotiations have been held with representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan. Earlier, there was a delay in the schedule of water supplies to the Republic of Kazakhstan by more than 1 billion cubic meters.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan also drew attention to the difficult climatic conditions in Central Asia in 2025, including low water, high summer temperatures and lack of precipitation. This led to an increase in water consumption for crop production while reducing its supply.

According to Kanat Bozumbayev, the flow of the Syrdarya, Shu and Talas rivers, as well as other channels, has decreased to 30-40 percent of the usual level. This creates additional difficulties for the region's water supply.
