During the visit of the Uzbek delegation to Latvia, a meeting was held with Latvian Minister of Welfare Uldis Augulis.
The parties discussed issues of developing cooperation in the field of labor migration with an emphasis on attracting qualified specialists from Uzbekistan. An agreement was reached on regular cooperation and joint elaboration of the issue of signing a bilateral agreement on cooperation in the field of labor migration.
During the talks with Igor Raevs, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Rinald Belijs, Deputy head of the State Border Protection, the high level of cooperation between the relevant departments of Uzbekistan and Latvia was emphasized.
The parties expressed interest in deepening cooperation. The Latvian side noted that Uzbek citizens make up a significant part of migrant workers in their country.
In addition, the Uzbek delegation held meetings with major employers and recruiting companies in Latvia, during which documents on cooperation were signed. These agreements include issues of employment and protection of the rights of Uzbek citizens.
