Uzbekistan and Russia to discuss protection of migrant workers' rights in Moscow

    The first meeting of the interdepartmental working group between Uzbekistan and Russia on labor migration and protection of migrants' rights will be held in Moscow, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the republic reports.

    A delegation of ministries and departments of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Prosecutor General Shokhrukh Aminov went to the Russian Federation to participate in the first meeting of the interdepartmental working group on labor migration and protection of migrants' rights.

    The working delegation included representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office, the State Security Service, the Migration Agency, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs, and Health.

    The main events will take place on April 29 at the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

    According to the Agency for Migration of Uzbekistan, the employment of citizens of the republic in Russia within the framework of the recruitment in 2024 increased 4.2 times compared to 2023 and amounted to 123.7 thousand people - 76.5% of the total recruitment in 2024. At the same time, the total number of labor migrants from Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation in 2024, taking into account self-employment, decreased by 1.7 times compared to 2023, to almost 700 thousand people.
