According to the National Statistics Committee, in January-June of this year, Uzbekistan imported 95.3 thousand tons of bananas, which is 5% higher than the previous record for the same period in 2024.
As for the geography of imports, 98.6% of this volume is accounted for by Ecuador - 94 thousand tons. The rest was supplied from China - 539 tons, Kyrgyzstan - 295 tons, India - 224 tons and other countries - 205 tons.
Relatively stable banana prices in the domestic market also contributed to the growth of banana consumption in Uzbekistan in the first half of 2025. From January to June 2025, wholesale prices for this product remained approximately at the level of the same period last year.
Moreover, during the last four months (with the exception of a few weeks in this period) Uzbekistan had the lowest wholesale prices for bananas compared to countries such as Russia, Moldova, Poland and Ukraine, despite a shorter and logistically simpler supply chain to these countries. In turn, this indicates the high efficiency of banana trade in Uzbekistan, EastFruit experts emphasize.
