Alisher Navoi Uzbek Language and Culture Center opened in Bursa (Turkey)

    Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi has established close cooperation ties with many scientific institutions and educational institutions in Turkey, and has been planning for several years to create a center for Uzbek language and culture in Turkey.

    This issue was also raised by the President of our country, according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 21, 2019 No. UP-5850 "On measures to radically increase the role and authority of the Uzbek language as the state language", also in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 12, 2024 No. PP-19 "On additional measures to to increase the flow of foreign tourists and further enhance the image of the country by widely promoting the study of the history and culture of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek language and literature in foreign countries," specific tasks were identified.

    In order to ensure the fulfillment of these tasks, the wide promotion of our national language and literature in the international arena, and the creation of opportunities for foreign researchers and volunteers interested in the history, culture, literature and language of Uzbekistan in foreign countries, such centers as the Alisher Navoi Center for Uzbek Language and Culture are being created on the initiative of the University of Uzbek Language and Literature. To date, such centers have opened and started their activities in countries such as China, Russia, India and Kyrgyzstan.

    On February 8, 2024, the opening ceremony of the Alisher Navoi Uzbek Language and Culture Center was held at Uludag University in the ancient city of Bursa (Turkey). Rector of Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi, academician Shukhrat Sirojiddinov, who spoke at the opening ceremony of the center, welcomed all participants of the ceremony with this historic event and said that the center was opened on the initiative of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He also noted that the opening of the representative office of the Turkish Yunus Emre Foundation in Uzbekistan will take place soon.

    The opening ceremony was attended by Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, Rector of Bursa University Uludag Ferudun Yilmaz, Deputy Minister of National Education of Turkey Jelile Eren O'kten, Political Adviser to the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkey Avazbek Khojimetov, as well as prominent military scientists, Turkologists and young researchers from all countries.

    This center provides the necessary resources to young scientists, historians, ethnographers conducting scientific research on ancient and modern Turkic languages, literature of the Turkic peoples. In addition, the center will serve as a place for the exchange of experience of teachers and students between the two universities. It is also planned to create conditions for our Turkish brothers and the youth of Turkey to receive extensive information about Uzbekistan, its history, present and future. In short, we can say that the center will become a practical manifestation of the idea of unification, which Alisher Navoi dreamed of.

    Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi donated more than 200 scientific, artistic and popular books, Uzbek folk and applied arts, and musical instruments to this center.
