The Center began its work with the support of the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and on the initiative of the Rector of the Russian State Pedagogical University named after A. I. Herzen Sergey Tarasov.
- Comprehensive support for people of silver age is one of the priorities of social policy, including at the international level. Our university has been conducting research in this area since 2019. Today, more than 10 scientific and educational departments of the university participate in them. We have an institute for the development of information and educational technologies in the field of gerontology, a fund of gerontological materials and publications has been opened, major scientific events on this topic are being held, agreements have been reached with leading scientific centers in St. Petersburg to create a Center for the study and development of Gerontology," commented the rector of the University, S. Tarasov. - The implementation of such projects contributes to strengthening the status of the branch in Uzbekistan as a modern educational center focused on training in-demand specialists and developing international humanitarian cooperation, including in the field of maintaining active longevity.
In addition, the branch plans to launch new educational programs in the 2026/2027 academic year. Technological education, a foreign language, adaptive sports, computer science and artificial intelligence in education, advertising and public relations will be added to the bachelor's degree programs. The Master's degree programs will be complemented by the following areas: adaptive sports, psychological and pedagogical rehabilitation of people with disabilities, education and support for people with hearing and speech disorders, Russian as a foreign language and teaching methods, and education quality management.
For reference: The Tashkent branch of the A. I. Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University, subordinate to the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, was established in 2020. Currently, about a thousand undergraduate and graduate students study here full-time and part-time. In the autumn of 2025, the coordination training and methodological center began operating in the Tashkent branch. A new academic building, designed to accommodate up to two thousand students, is scheduled to be commissioned this year. In the spring of 2026, it was decided that the branch would become the basic organization of Uzbekistan for training personnel for adaptive sports and inclusive sports.
