It is worth noting that Samarkand is the capital of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 2023. The 25th anniversary session of the UNWTO General Assembly will be held in Samarkand this year.
During the visit, presentations on the tourism potential of the region on the theme "Samarkand is the tourist gateway of the New Uzbekistan" are held.
"B2B" meetings of representatives of the tourism industry are also organized.
In particular, an official meeting was held between the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia and representatives of the delegation of the Samarkand region. It discussed issues of cooperation in the field of tourism, the organization of direct flights to Samarkand, the organization of special pilgrimage tours for Indonesians to the shrines of Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Moturidi, Makhdumi Azam, Huja Ahror Wali, Abdi Dorun and Abdi Berun.
