As a result of an investigation conducted with the participation of specialists of the Prosecutor General's Office, the State Security Service and the Cultural Heritage Agency, responsible officials of the Yangikurgan district of Namangan region found that the object of cultural heritage was illegally transferred for housing construction. As a result, serious damage was caused to the facility.

In particular, documents related to the archaeological monument "Gaistontepa", located in the mahalla "Gaiston" of Yangikurgan district, which is a monument of cultural heritage, were submitted by the heads of the district departments of cadaster and construction to the commission for consideration of the issue of granting land plots contrary to the requirements of legisl ation, and this territory was illegally allocated to citizens for suburban construction.

As a result, the archaeological monument "Gaistontepa" was demolished in 2020-2021 by a citizen Zakir, and a residential building was built instead. As a result, the historical object suffered serious damage in the amount of 80 billion soums.

According to the Agency of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a criminal case has been opened based on the results of the investigation, investigative actions are being carried out.
