The Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and South Korea held talks in Busan

    On October 25, 2022, in Busan (Republic of Korea), on the sidelines of the 15th Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum, a meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov and the Republic of Korea Park Chin took place.

    The issues of the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between the two countries, as well as the regional and international agenda were discussed.

    The parties mutually noted that after bringing the relationship to the level of a special strategic partnership in 2019, exchanges in the field of trade, investment, and culture have reached a new historical stage.

    An important event was the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Seoul in December 2021, the results of which outlined key benchmarks for cooperation, such as digitalization, "green" development, and the implementation of a strong social policy.

    Attention is focused on further increasing cooperation in such truly strategic areas as healthcare and education.

    The Ministers noted the similarity of approaches and positions on ensuring peace and maintaining regional security.

    Uzbekistan has consistently supported Seoul's efforts to establish lasting peace on the Korean peninsula and resume inter-Korean dialogue.

    The Korean side highly appreciates the policy of our country in the issues of the Afghan settlement, the involvement of Afghanistan in regional economic and transport and logistics projects.

    An agreement was reached to maintain the active dynamics of interaction between the foreign ministries of the two countries within the framework of traditional political consultations, as well as international organizations, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
