On April 19-20, the inspectorate of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, together with the state environmental inspectors of the Syrdarya region, conducted special raid measures to combat illegal fishing on the Syrdarya River.

The events were organized on the basis of numerous appeals from the public, including with the aim of preventing poachers from using electric fishing rods and prohibited nets (fishing lines) during the spawning period.

During the raid, about 20 illegally installed fishing nets with a total length of almost 1,000 meters were seized. These networks will be destroyed in due course. In addition, two violators who were fishing with electric rods were detained. The following items were seized as evidence: an aluminum boat, a motor, two batteries, an electric fishing rod and related fishing gear, as well as 21 fish of various species.

As a result of the violation, the nature suffered damage in the amount of 368 million 437 thousand 500 soms. All materials have been transferred to law enforcement agencies.

The Ministry of Ecology calls on citizens to actively participate in the protection of natural resources and comply with the established rules when fishing.
