The event was attended by the heads of the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic Committee and the Wrestling Association of Uzbekistan.
In their speeches, the officials expressed high hopes for the national team in the new Olympic cycle and stressed that the state would create all the necessary conditions for the preparation of athletes.
More than 500 wrestlers from different regions of the Republic participate in the tournament. The competition will last until May 7.
The winners and prize-winners have a chance to join the national team and start preparing for the World Cup, which will be held in Croatia this year.
