The second meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Strategic Dialogue "Central Asia - Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf" was held in Tashkent

    On April 15, 2024, the second meeting of foreign ministers of the Strategic Dialogue "Central Asia - Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf" was held in Tashkent under the chairmanship of Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov.

    The event was attended by the Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdurahman Al Tani, Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubayev, Tajikistan - Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Turkmenistan - Rashid Meredov, Bahrain - Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Kuwait - Abdullah al-Yahya, Oman - Badr Albusaidi, Saudi Arabia - Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, of Azerbaijan - Jeyhun Bayramov (as guest of honor), Minister of State of Qatar Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraihi, Special Representative of the President of the United Arab Emirates for Central Asia, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al-Mazroui, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev, as well as Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Al- Budaiwi.

    The participants of the event discussed issues of strengthening mutually beneficial and comprehensive cooperation between the two regions in trade, economic, investment, transport and communication, cultural, humanitarian, environmental and tourism spheres.

    The course of implementation of the agreements reached within the framework of the first summit of the heads of State of Central Asia and the GCC, held on July 19, 2023 in Jeddah, as well as the "Joint Action Plan for Strategic Dialogue and Cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the GCC States for 2023-2027" was reviewed.

    The sides exchanged views on topical aspects of the international and regional agenda, in particular the situation in Afghanistan and the current situation in the Middle East.

    Special attention was paid to issues related to the holding of the next Summit in the Central Asia-GCC format in Samarkand in 2025.

    The third meeting of the heads of foreign policy departments of this format will be held in Kuwait in 2026.
