A round table dedicated to the promotion of the Strategy for Achieving Gender Equality until 2030 was held in Tashkent

    On January 26 of this year, a round table was held in the building of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the participation of members of the Senate Committee on Women and Gender Equality, dedicated to promoting the essence and significance of the Strategy for Achieving Gender Equality until 2030.

    The event was attended by members of the Committee on Women and Gender Equality, representatives of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan, judges and media workers.

    During the event, information was provided on the work carried out to ensure gender equality, increase the role of women in public and political life.

    In particular, in recent years, 41 normative legal documents (2 laws, 2 decrees and 12 resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as 25 government resolutions) have been adopted in order to improve the legislative framework ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men.

    The work carried out within the framework of the Strategy for Achieving Gender Equality in the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030, approved by the Resolution of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PS-297-IV dated May 28, 2021 and the Program of Comprehensive measures for 2023, was discussed.

    The participants separately stressed that this Program of comprehensive measures includes such priority areas as improving the legislative framework that ensures the creation of equal rights and opportunities for women and men in the public service, in the fields of education, science, sports, health, socio-economic sphere; prevention of harassment and violence; gender-sensitive budgeting, improving the management of gender statistics.

    At the end of the event, an agreement was reached on further strengthening the interaction of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis with the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the implementation of this strategy.
