The widespread information that the cholera disease detected in Afghanistan has penetrated into Uzbekistan is absolutely false. Cases of cholera have never been detected on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan until this day.

This was announced at a briefing in the AIMC by Deputy Head of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service Nurmat Atabekov.

Cholera is one of the most dangerous acute infectious intestinal diseases, which occurs by damage to the small intestine, intoxication, deterioration of the general condition and dehydration of the body.

Cholera vibrio can survive in river water from 18 days to five months, in ice for several months, in ditches for several days, in seawater for two weeks, in feces in cold weather for several months, in garbage pits for three months, in underwear for two months, in sandy soil for several months, in reservoirs for 15-30 days, in milk and butter for up to a month, in potatoes for up to two weeks, in fruits for up to several days.

Disinfectants quickly kill the vibrio. Even when boiling water, the vibrio quickly dies.
