    New traffic rules aimed at improving the efficiency of public transport and road safety will come into force in Uzbekistan on October 10, 2024.

    The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan approved Resolution No. 658, which tightens control over the use of dedicated bus lanes.

    According to the changes made by the Government decree:

    on a road with a lane designated for public vehicles, the movement of passenger cars and other vehicles is prohibited, with the exception of special services;

    It is allowed to cross lanes in areas with intermittent markings for the purpose of entry or exit at a distance of 50 meters from the place of entry or exit to the adjacent territory.

    At the same time, the vehicle is allowed to enter or leave the adjacent territory after it gives way, without interfering with the movement of a public vehicle moving along this lane.

    These measures are designed to optimize the operation of public transport and reduce traffic jams. The Ministry of Internal Affairs plans to conduct information campaigns for drivers and strengthen control over compliance with the new rules.

    It is expected that the changes will have a positive impact on the transport situation in the country and make public transport trips more comfortable for passengers.
