Vladimir Norov held a meeting with the OSCE Secretary General

    On November 16, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Helga Schmid, who arrived in our country to participate in a number of major international events.

    A wide range of issues of Uzbekistan's cooperation with the OSCE were discussed at the meeting.

    As noted, in recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and the Organization have significantly intensified and reached a qualitatively new level.

    The sides exchanged views on the implementation of the Practical Action Plan (Roadmap) adopted in April 2021 for the implementation of OSCE projects in Uzbekistan for 2021-2022.

    The issues of developing new joint projects in various directions in all three dimensions of the Organization's activities were discussed.

    The Uzbek Foreign Minister informed the OSCE delegation in detail about Uzbekistan's regional policy, the main goal of which is to transform Central Asia into a region of security, stability and sustainable development, its integration into global economic and transport links.

    H. Schmid highly appreciated the efforts of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to create favorable conditions for the development of cooperation and good neighborliness in the region.

    Special attention was paid to the intensification of cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection, in particular, to strengthen the response to security risks associated with climate change, natural resource management, and the elimination of the ecological disaster of the Aral Sea.

    The sides also exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan, the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.
