The Foreign Ministers discussed in detail the program and agenda of negotiations within the framework of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Hungary, reviewed the current state and prospects for the development of relations between the two countries.

It was noted with satisfaction that after the withdrawal of Uzbek-Hungarian relations to the level of strategic partnership in 2021, the current visit at the highest level is a logical continuation of an active, comprehensive dialogue between the countries, friendly and trusting relations between the leaders.

The Ministers agreed on the importance of continuing bilateral political consultations between the foreign ministries on a regular basis, filling the interministerial Cooperation Program calculated until 2023 with high-quality content.

A striking confirmation will be the signing these days of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Information and Analytical Center for International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Foreign Affairs and Trade under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.

The exceptional relevance of the active promotion of economic diplomacy through the implementation of joint projects in the automotive, pharmaceutical, construction, agricultural, tourism and other areas of mutual interest was also emphasized.

The Ministers considered proposals to intensify the inter-parliamentary dialogue, strengthen ties in the field of education, including on the basis of the program "Stipendium Hungaricum".

Particular attention was paid to deepening cooperation within the framework of international and regional organizations, in particular the UN, OSCE and OTG.

The Hungarian side confirmed its readiness to support Uzbekistan in signing the updated Agreement on Expanded Partnership and Cooperation with the EU as soon as possible.

During the talks, the sides also exchanged views on certain aspects of international and regional policy, in particular the current situation in Afghanistan.
