Topical issues of further strengthening and development of cooperation with the European Union in the fields of investment, trade, science and education, ecology, tourism and other areas were discussed.
The parties agreed on the importance of the early signing of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union, initialed on July 6 this year. This comprehensive document is intended to bring Uzbek-European relations to a qualitatively new level.
The sides exchanged views on organizational aspects of upcoming events at various levels and formats, including the holding of a ministerial meeting and an International Conference on Interconnectedness: "Global Gateway for Sustainable Development" in the EU-Central Asia format on November 17-18, 2022 in Samarkand.
Special attention was paid to the expansion of trade and economic cooperation. As it was emphasized, in January-September 2022, the volume of mutual trade with the EU countries amounted to 3.13 billion US dollars, which is 14.8% more compared to the same period last year. Proposals for the activation of economic diplomacy and the implementation of specific investment projects were considered.
