According to a memorandum signed between the "Uzbekkosmos" agency and "STAR.VISION" company, this satellite will be named "Samarkand-2028".
This name holds symbolic significance related to the "International Astronautical Congress" that will be held in Samarkand in 2028.
Another important aspect within the memorandum is that specialists from the "Uzbekkosmos" agency will develop the artificial intelligence module for the satellite. This module will allow for the effective use of high-resolution space images.
According to reports, the "Samarkand-2028" satellite will be used in several sectors based on Earth remote sensing (ERS) technologies. This includes:
- Primary assessment of air quality;
- Monitoring of agricultural crops;
- Observing the condition of forest areas.
Uzbekistan's participation in this international space project is assessed as another important step in the country's development in the field of space technologies.
