In recent
years, the country has implemented a number of large-scale projects in the
field of child and maternal healthcare. The Republican Specialized Scientific
and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health has been
established, and a network of maternity complexes equipped with modern medical
and diagnostic equipment has been formed in all cities and districts of the
country.
To provide
specialized medical care to children, there is a unified system that includes
the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for
Pediatrics and 13 regional multidisciplinary children's medical centers.
According
to the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, today more than 2,300 family
polyclinics, 209 multidisciplinary central polyclinics, 245 pediatric
institutions with a total bed capacity of more than 13.3 thousand beds, as well
as 9 republican specialized medical institutions provide medical care to
children aged 0 to 18 years.
The
Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Pediatrics is
achieving significant success. Cochlear implantation for children with hearing
impairments, plastic microsurgery on the facial nerve, audio screening of
newborns and rehabilitation using modern digital hearing aids are successfully
carried out here.
The
center's molecular genetic laboratory conducts screening studies to detect rare
(orphan) diseases in newborns at an early stage.
The country
is also actively developing a system of high-tech specialized medical care for
children. The National Children's Medical Center, which is a unique
fourth-level medical institution in terms of its technical capabilities and
human resources, was one of the first in Uzbekistan to receive the JCI
international quality certificate.
In
accordance with the decision of the President, a clinic for diseases of the
Aral Sea region was established at the center. In addition, the most complex
kidney and liver transplantation operations for children are successfully
performed here.
Special
attention is paid to the support of children suffering from serious illnesses.
As part of the Presidential decision taken on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha
holiday, surgical operations are performed on 10,000 children with serious
illnesses and pathologies leading to disability.
Uzbekistan
also has a national calendar of preventive vaccinations, according to which
children are regularly vaccinated against 13 types of infectious diseases.
Hearing
screening is planned for more than 600,000 children in 2026, and over 3,000
boys and girls will undergo in-depth examinations. The cochlear implantation
program provides for more than 500 operations for children with hearing
impairments.
In
addition, the country will introduce modern targeted treatment of cystic
fibrosis using CFTR-modulator drugs.
Taking care
of the health and well-being of children remains one of the most important
priorities of Uzbekistan's state policy, because children are the main wealth
of the country and its future.
