Abdulla Aripov met with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization

    On May 27, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov met with Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Daren Tan at the Cabinet of Ministers.

    Daren Tan expressed gratitude to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the special attention paid to reliable legal protection of intellectual property objects in the country. He noted that WIPO supports reforms and initiatives aimed at improving this area in Uzbekistan.

    During the meeting, plans for the joint implementation of the draft strategy for the development of intellectual property in Uzbekistan for 2026-2030, as well as issues of professional development of specialists working in this field, were discussed.

    Special attention was paid to the creation of a joint WIPO Master's degree program based on the Master's degree in Intellectual Property at Tashkent State Law University.

    The parties also discussed the active involvement of Uzbek specialists in the WIPO Green program, aimed at supporting the green economy, combating climate change and ensuring food security. The possibility of launching a joint program for the legal protection of intellectual property in relation to agricultural products produced in Uzbekistan was considered.
