A meeting of the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the First Deputy Minister of Housing and Communal Services, Chairman of the Board of Uzsuvtaminot Sahib Saifnazarov with the Deputy Director of the US Agency for Trade and Development (USTDA) Vinay Tummalapalli took place in Washington.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, within the framework of the event, the parties discussed promising areas of bilateral cooperation in the field of water resources management of our country, issues of attracting advanced American technologies and specialists to improve the efficiency of using limited resources. The signing ceremony of the grant agreement between JSC "Uzsuvtaminot" and USTDA on the implementation of the system of "smart management" of water resources in Uzbekistan was also held.

At the beginning of the negotiations, Vinay Tummalapalli stated that the Agency is interested in assisting in the implementation of priority infrastructure projects in developing economies, especially in Uzbekistan. According to him, USTDA supports close cooperation of US enterprises with domestic agencies in the field of joint implementation of sustainable and innovative projects through the allocation of grant funds. According to the information provided, the total number of projects funded by the American side on the territory of our country is about twenty. It was noted that the projects previously approved by the Agency in the republic were implemented in such areas as transport and logistics, agriculture and energy.

According to Vinay Tummalapalli, a new pilot project worth 453 thousand dollars will be implemented for the first time in the field of water resources management and involves large-scale digitalization of water supply systems in the cities of Jizzakh and Chirchik, which will allow real-time monitoring of the entire chain of the water use system through remote monitoring sensors, modeling different scenarios of resource use.

In addition, the new digital system based on artificial intelligence will automate the processes of water supply and sewerage, determine in advance the growth or decrease in the volume of water resources for their most optimal distribution, as well as identify possible leakages in the system, the USTDA representative noted.

Vinay Tummalapalli also emphasized that the new project will have a long-term impact on Uzbekistan's resilience to the negative impact of external factors on the country's water resources, the Dune news agency reports.

It is expected that within the framework of this project, a geoformation system of water resources will also be created for the analysis and visualization of geographical data. The main contractor from the United States will be the American company "Nobel Systems", based in San Bernardino (California), which has thirty years of experience in integrating software and cloud solutions into the water management system.

Recall that the USTDA is the central authority of the United States in the field of trade promotion and is responsible for the United States' assistance to developing countries in creating infrastructure, contributing to the development of a market economy. Currently, the Agency operates in 66 countries around the world and most of its projects are deployed in Latin America, Europe and East Asia.
