Academies of Sciences of Uzbekistan and Russia discussed areas of cooperation

    The Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences hosted a meeting of the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Alexander Sergeev, with the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Behzod Yuldashev.

    Alexander Sergeev presented to his colleague the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (AN RUz) Behzod Yuldashev has a diploma of a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

    1. Yuldashev spoke about the growth of the number of institutes under the auspices of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 16 to 38, as well as the increase in the number of employees from 4,000 to 6,500 people.

    "The basic financing of the institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan is now carried out from the state budget," B. Yuldashev stressed.

    During the discussion, the most promising areas of cooperation were highlighted: the continuation of work on the Suffa Observatory, the production of radioisotopes for the diagnosis and therapy of cancer, nuclear energy, pharmacology, materials science.

    On the Russian side, a proposal was made to jointly study environmental problems, including in relation to water use, which is of great interest to Uzbekistan.

    The President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan also expressed interest in developing cooperation in the field of agriculture.

    Both sides supported the topic of expanding cooperation between young scientists of the two countries.
