Aliyev: Baku and Yerevan are close to an agreement on a peace treaty

The parties will continue negotiations after the UN Climate Conference COP 29, which will be held on November 11-22, the President of Azerbaijan said.

Azerbaijan and Armenia are close to reaching a final agreement on the text of the peace treaty and will continue negotiations after the UN Climate Conference COP29, which will be held in Baku on November 11-22. This was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the press service of the head of state reports.

"The President of Azerbaijan noted that Armenia's significant delay in its proposals on the text of the peace treaty had a negative impact on the process, but despite this, the parties are close to reaching a final agreement on the text of the document, and negotiations will continue after the negotiation process," the message reads.

In turn, Scholz said that Germany supports building peace and good-neighborly relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and called on the parties to "take bold steps."

The German Chancellor also announced that he would not be able to take part in the leaders' summit within the framework of the SOR29 climate conference due to the current political situation in his country, reports tass.ru.
