In accordance with aviation traditions, the new aircraft was greeted with a water arch with the help of fire trucks.
The plane with registration number UK32105 arrived on a direct flight to Tashkent in 6 hours and 30 minutes from Hamburg (Germany), where one of the Airbus factories is located. The aircraft was piloted by the crew of Uzbekistan Airways - Murodjon Gulyamov and Vladislav Argov.
Representatives of the Ministry of Transport, airline employees, media representatives, and air spotters met the new airliner at the terminal.
Uzbekistan Airways plans to use the A321neo aircraft on long-haul and local flights. It is designed for 188 passengers. The maximum take-off weight of the aircraft is 97 tons, the flight range is up to 6850 km.
The acquisition of new aircraft will help the airline expand its route network and increase passenger traffic. The unification of the airline's fleet of aircraft is defined in the "roadmap" to accelerate the transformation processes in Uzbekistan Airways JSC.
Uzbekistan Airways plans to open new destinations and restore previously popular routes to Europe and Asia. This will help replenish the airline's fleet with new A321neo aircraft.
"The main priority for each airline is undoubtedly to increase its fleet. Uzbekistan Airways is also working in this direction. We have been cooperating with Airbus for a long time and support promising agreements signed for the benefit of our passengers. We have been operating this company's aircraft for more than 20 years and will continue to work on obtaining new ones in the near future. A lot has been done under the transformation program this year. It would not be an exaggeration if we say that in 2022 the number of passengers transported was a record in the history of the airline and we achieved this goal thanks to the replenishment of the fleet with new A321neo LR," said Ilkhom Makhkamov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways JSC.
It should be noted that in November of this year, another contract was signed between Uzbekistan Airways and Airbus for the purchase of 12 new Airbus family aircraft (including A320NEO and A321NEO) with a delivery condition in 2029-2030.
During the event, participants and media representatives got acquainted with the new airliner and its technical characteristics. The event was also attended by children of civil aviation employees who loved the new aircraft. You could see from their faces that everyone dreamed of becoming a pilot or working in the field of aviation in the future.
