The delegation of the Oliy Majlis took part in the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

    On November 24-26, 2022, the delegation of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) held in Warsaw (Poland).

    More than 220 parliamentarians from 50 OSCE participating States and cooperation partners were represented at the event.

    The session included a general plenary session, as well as meetings of the Special Committees on Migration and Combating Terrorism of the OSCE PA. During the session, issues related to the settlement of conflicts in the OSCE area, the further promotion of the "green economy", the protection of human rights, and the exchange of experience in the organization of elections were discussed.

    In addition, during the session, parliamentarians heard reports from the leadership of the Parliamentary Assembly and the Bureau for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) OSCE.

    Within the framework of the meeting of the OSCE PA Special Committee on Combating Terrorism, a new permanent member of the Committee, Senator R. Alimov, was introduced. The representative of Uzbekistan made a report informing about the comprehensive measures taken in the republic to combat terrorism and extremism, provide targeted assistance and social adaptation of repentant persons, as well as the implementation of "Mehr" programs for the rescue and return to their homeland of women and children affected by the activities of terrorist organizations.

    During the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to Warsaw, bilateral meetings were held with the Vice-President of the OSCE PA, Chairman of the Special Committee on Combating Terrorism R. Lopatka and Secretary General of the Assembly R. Montella.

    At the meetings, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of our country's cooperation within the OSCE PA, as well as issues related to the upcoming plenary events of the assembly in 2023.

    The representatives of the OSCE PA highly appreciated the level of interaction, the active position of the Republic of Uzbekistan within the framework of the Assembly and expressed their readiness to continue to provide comprehensive assistance in the implementation of socio-political and socio-economic transformations, strengthening civil society institutions in the interests of the citizens of the country, the information service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
