The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution initiated by Uzbekistan on the Decade of Afforestation and Reforestation

    The UN General Assembly in New York adopted the resolution "Decade of Afforestation and Reforestation in accordance with Sustainable Forest Management" initiated by the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    The resolution was co-sponsored by over 80 countries representing all regions of the world, including Central Asian countries, Azerbaijan, Russia, Brazil, Austria, Germany, Finland, Portugal, India, Iran, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain.

    The document is based on key initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including the Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy program, the Yashil Makon national project and the Green Belt of Central Asia tree planting campaign.

    The resolution proclaims 2027-2036 as the Decade of Afforestation and Reforestation, calls for the mobilization of efforts and resources, and recommends that countries and organizations step up appropriate measures, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
