According to the Report, this was announced by the head of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Vi R. Narayanan.
"A mission involving a humanoid robot will take place in December," he said.
A humanoid robot named Vyommitra (translated from Sanskrit Vyoma - cosmos, Mitra - friend) with a female appearance was specially designed for autonomous flight in a capsule. It is assumed that the robot will check the operation of all key spacecraft systems in space, from life support systems to flight control systems.
"If the mission is successful, we will conduct two more unmanned missions next year. And after all the tests are completed in March 2027, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the main manned Gaganian mission will be launched, the head of ISRO said.
In August 2018, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially announced for the first time that his country would send the first national space crew into orbit. Four of its members have already been trained in the Russian Star City and are now continuing their training in India. The name of the project "Gaganian" (from the Sanskrit "gagana" - heaven) means "heavenly ship".
