As we reported earlier, on December 11 in Ashgabat, the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis took part in the International Conference "Dialogue - Guarantee of Peace", dedicated to the celebration of the 27th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality.

The event was attended by representatives of such authoritative international organizations as the UN and its specialized agencies, the OTG, the EU, as well as heads of diplomatic corps of foreign countries and international organizations in Ashgabat.

Speaking at the conference, the deputy head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, Markus Potzel, noted that the establishment of sustainable peace and stability on Afghan soil, the achievement of national accord, ensuring an inclusive political process dictate the need to maintain dialogue with Afghanistan.

In this context, the UN representative expressed full support for the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to create an international negotiating group on Afghanistan, which was put forward on October 13 this year during the VI summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia.

According to Markus Potzel, this unique format will contribute to achieving a broad consensus on Afghan problems at the global level and developing coordinated approaches to interaction with the interim government of Afghanistan, the information service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
