Uzbekistan's initiatives will be considered at the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand

    Ambassador of Uzbekistan Zhakhongir Ganiev met with Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili.

    During the meeting, topical issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UNWTO, the upcoming session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand, as well as measures taken in our country to develop the tourism industry were discussed.

    The Secretary General spoke warmly about the last meeting with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held on November 7 last year. He warmly supported the idea of the head of our state to introduce the subject of "Tourism" into the school curriculum and to consider the relevant resolution at the upcoming meeting of the General Assembly as an Uzbek initiative in the widespread implementation in school educational institutions of all UNWTO member countries.

    The results of the ongoing reforms on the development of modern tourism infrastructure in Uzbekistan were also highly appreciated, favorable conditions for the implementation of business initiatives were noted, thanks to which a qualitative growth of external and internal tourism is possible. It was emphasized that Uzbekistan is one of the recognized leading countries in the tourism sector, the news agency "Dunyo" reports.

    The head of the UNWTO expressed strong support for the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, highly appreciating the positive changes and efforts of the head of the republic to ensure peace and progressive development of the country.
