"The Starlink satellite Internet has just appeared on the market, we have launched it. Now we will install two more standard trains. The quality of the connection is good, but our country is large, so we need to test how it will be in other regions.
From a technological point of view, it is easiest to provide Talgo trains with this Internet, so we plan to connect the 25 trains that we have, if economically feasible," Akhmetjanov noted.
According to him, the technology is planned to be tested in regular trains.
"We are currently planning to test this technology on other trains. In particular, we will probably be in standard formations by the end of this year. In October, we will start connecting trains in the Aktobe-Almaty and Kyzylorda-Semey directions, and we will test them on these trains in a pilot mode. We need to see how this technology behaves. If successful, we will scale the project, we have a partner," assured Anuar Akhmetjanov.
On January 25, Kazakhstan launched a pilot project to introduce the Internet in trains - first, the new service was tested on route No. 3/4 "Astana-Almaty".
In May last year, the head of Passenger Transportation JSC, Janibek Taijanov, responded to complaints from Kazakhstanis about the Internet on trains. At that time, it was said that the project to install the Internet on trains together with the ICRIAP using the Starlink and OneWeb systems was planned to be launched in a pilot mode by the end of the year.
In October, Kazakhstan trains had access to the Internet. With its help, passengers can watch feature films, documentaries and animated films, as well as listen to music. nur.kz.
