In the course of the work, the researchers collected and analyzed data on the health and lifestyle of the participants. As it turned out, 902 of them were diagnosed with dementia. In addition, 2.5 thousand people had mild cognitive impairment. At the same time, most of the people with identified problems have been engaged in physically hard work during their lives, Mir24 writes.

After making another series of calculations, the scientists came to the conclusion that the probability of developing dementia in people engaged in hard work is almost 15.5% higher compared to other groups.

The authors of the work claim that cashiers, sales consultants, junior medical personnel, farmers and producers of livestock products are at the greatest risk. Representatives of these professions spend a lot of time on their feet, and also constantly face stress and an increased risk of emotional burnout.

The scientists added that cognitive abilities are affected by lack of rest and lack of free time. These factors lead to depletion of the body, which negatively affects the activity of the brain.
