Kan: residents of a Druze village in southern Syria have spoken out in favor of joining Israel

A large Arab village in Syria has declared its desire to join Israel, as the Druze living in it fear for their fate after Sunni Muslims come to power in Damascus, the Israeli state broadcaster Kan reports.

The Druze are an ethnoconfessional group of Arabs who adhere to a special version of Shiite Islam. Israel has controlled several Druze villages in the Golan Heights since 1967, while the remaining villages remain part of Syria.

An Israeli TV company analyzed a video of a gathering of residents in the village of Khader near the Syrian border of the buffer zone with Israel. The authenticity of the video posted on social networks has not been confirmed, reports vesti.ru.

As noted in the message, dozens of villagers came out in favor of becoming part of Israel. They believe that this will be the "lesser of evils" and safer than remaining part of Syria after the radical Sunnis come to power.
