According to MIA KazTAG, at exactly 0.00 on the night of March 1, in the cities of Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, as well as in Akmola, Almaty, Jambyl, Karaganda, Kostanay, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, Turkestan, East Kazakhstan regions and the regions of Abai, Jetisu and Ulytau, the clock hands were switched to one hour ago.

Thus, the country officially implemented the transition to a single UTC+5 time zone, which, according to the government, "is the most correct and optimal option, in which most regions of Kazakhstan will use the time closest to natural (natural)."

According to experts, the establishment of a single time zone will eliminate time barriers between residents of different regions of the country, improve the coordination of transport and other communications, as well as have a beneficial effect on business, interaction between government agencies and emergency services.

Up to and including February 29, two time zones UTC+5 and UTC+6 were used in Kazakhstan. Most of the country's territory (with the exception of the western regions) was in the UTC+6 zone.

It should be noted that the entire territory of Uzbekistan is also located in the UTC+5 time zone. Thus, in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, the time will be equal this spring.
